I ain't gonna finish these ever, so enjoy the forever cliffhanger.
Part 1
The line was too long at the gate, so Bonk snuck past the guard and Raynor bribed him. Ruith was left to wait in line. On the way to the coliseum, Sybil bumped into Bonk and then met Raynor immediately after. Arriving first, Styx scaled the walls of the coliseum, avoiding the main entrances, and went all the way down to the basement from the inside. She was attempting to open a door, when a suit of armor animated and attacked her. She killed it. Everyone else got to the Coliseum in time for the tournament. Abraham stumbled his way down the same path as Styx and met her after she had "forcefully unanimated" the armor. Bonk, Raynor, and Ruith, who rejoined the group, entered the tournament. Vekran used invisibility to sneak into a specific box, in which there was Julianna Sasar, the leader of an Elwin Crime Syndicate, and waited for the tournament to start. Sybil flew up to the top of the Coliseum and sat on the ledge looking toward the arena. The first battle starts and Vekran attempts to run into Julianna to push her off, but she notices him and moves sway before he can push her. Thankfully, he grabs onto the ledge and doesn't fall. Julianna looks at him and says "Trying to ram me? Are you some kind of goat?", causing goat horns to grow out of the side of Vekran's head. Vekran then pulled her out of the box and, while airborne, kicked her into the coliseum. She then turned into a raven and flew away. However, she was attacked by the monster in the arena as she left, causing her to need to land again. Vekran, after landing, uses magic to disguise himself amongst the crowd and leaves the coliseum to pursue the raven. Meanwhile, in the basement, Styx opens the door, shuts it on Abraham, and hides inside a suit of armor. Abraham enters, looks around, and attacks the empty armor, causing it to animate and fight back. Styx assists while in the armor and after the combat is over they investigate the room together. Abraham decides to move the table in the middle of the room a foot to the left. Suddenly, the table animates and almost kills Styx before being defeated. Above, Bonk, Ruith, and Raynor fight a minotaur skeleton and defeat it. Sybil notices something about them and goes to talk to them after the battle. Styx and Abraham investigate and find nothing in the room other than a book and some papers. After a very long time, they managed to figure out how to open the book. By turning the first page, the room shifted and revealed 500gp, which they stole. Vekran found himself at an inn with an open window, so he ran inside to the room with the open window and knocked. A man answers the door and gives signs of danger. Vekran pushes the door open and sees a raven on the desk. Julianna turns back into a human, blasts Vekran with a 6th-level magic missile, turns back, and flies away. Vekran then returns to the Coliseum to relax a bit and both Styx and Abraham also watch the matches. In the next match, it is Ruith, Raynor, and Bonk vs a hellhound. During the match, Styx throws tomatoes at Raynor and he throws knives back at her in retaliation. Also, Sybil assists the group from the stands with magic. Ruith dealt the final blow of 34 damage to the hellhound, killing it instantly.
Part 2
A priest noticed Abraham and started to head toward him. Styx, realizing the priest knew about them stealing the money, darted out of the stands. Abraham couldn't seem to get through the mass of people, and the priest eventually caught up to him. The priest tried to cast the spell hold person on Abraham, but he resisted. Abraham then deceived the priest into thinking he only stole 40 gp and gave the money back to her. Abraham then explained how Styx took all the rest of the money and she went after her. Vekran, watching all of this, turned invisible and followed the priest. Styx found some animated suits of armor blocking her path but managed to slip past before the priest caught up to her.Â
Raynor, Ruith, and Bonk all left the area after the last battle and went to rest, but a strange man opened the door, grabbed Ruith, pulled him through, and shut the door. When Raynor and Bonk opened the door again, the room was empty. Sybil also entered the room after watching what happened to Ruith. In the room, there was a box of 3 healing potions and 3 vials of lycanthrope blood. A priest showed up to lead them to the area and Raynor managed to convince him that Sybil was in their group. Bonk, Raynor, and Sybil dominated the next fight against a weretiger serial killer and Bonk celebrated his victory by cutting open her stomach, ripping out her intestines, and using them to make a smiley face. Abraham, still in the stands, watched all of the fight unfold.
Styx made her way to a store called "YES". Inside, there was a gnome that asked her what she was looking for. After going back and forth for a while Styx eventually bought a small disk that allows the holder to cast detect magic (1/day reset at dusk). Using the disk, she realized that all the coins she had stolen were fake. All the coins had illusion magic on them, and one had divinition and another had necromancy. She also jumped through his floor to the basement and used another magic item to dispel the illusion on the coins, revealing them to be made of coal, except for one. That one coin with necromancy magic turned out to be made of reddish-black metal with an engraving of a crown on one side and a devil on the other. Styx also found a key that had conjuration magic within it. As this was happening, the priest was following using the spell locate object, and Vekran was sneakily following her. They made their way to "YES" and went inside. Styx figured out that the key could be used to travel from one door to another, as long as the initial door had a keyhole. The priest went to find the owner while Vekran jumped down the hole and followed Styx through the door she used the key on. The two ended up in the temple of Clover and Styx. Styx exchanged her 32 platinum for 30 platinum "credits" which she could only spend on gambling in a temple of Clover.Â
While all of that was going on, Abraham was asking around until he eventually found the contact who had sighted Wilkes who told him that Wilkes had been sighted in the capital recently and told him where to find a contact there. Also, the contact figured out that the money was fake and took it off his hands. Abraham then decided that now would be a good time to gamble. Abraham and Styx both gambled in the temple of Clover, with Styx losing all the "credits" she had and Abraham profiting a bit off of it. Right when Styx is leaving, she swipes and pockets a small 30 platinum. Suddenly, she hears in her head, "You are very greedy" (it was coming from the special coin).
Back in the tournament, Sybil, Bonk, and Raynor fought an earth elemental. Both Bonk and Raynor went down once in the fight before they finally managed to claim victory.Â
As Abraham and Styx were leaving the temple, Vekran's invisibility ended and he immediately threatened to slit Styx's throat if they didn't tell him who they were (It might have been a slightly different question). After a series of blows, Styx and Abraham were able to manage to knock out Vekran, though not before he almost killed Styx in one hit. Abraham and Styx then quickly used the magic key to open a door to the capital, though the key evaporated afterward as it had used up all its magic.
Perceptive - Bonk, Raynor, Sybil
Sybil, Bonk, and Raynor had all defeated the earth elemental and headed back to their room. In the room, they found three greater healing potions and 3 potions of restfulness. Sybil and Bonk drank one potion of restfulness each, regaining all their spell slots.
The next fight was with a tomb guardian. Here is a brief synopsis of what I remember:
- Syvil found out it was weak to fire and shot a torch at it.
- Raynor shoved the torch into its helmet.
- Bonk spammed guiding bolt
- Bonk killed it with a guiding bolt
- It was brought back by Julianna
- Sybil got the last hit in
After the fight, Sybil and Bonk went to the box they saw Julianna in, but the door was locked. So, Bonk did the logical thing and went out into the stands, jumped down to the arena, and tapped the current fighter on the shoulder. Sybil also chased after him. This then caused every single priest in the stands to cast banishment on the two. Bonk succeeded like 11 of the saving throws. The two were given a warning but allowed to return to their room.
The next fight was an extremely challenging one. Here's what I remember:
- Raynor was trapped in the darkness almost the entire time
- Bonk stayed in the back and kept casting guiding bolts, though usually he couldn't because of the darkness.
- Sybil flew above the darkness and cast silence on Julianna, which reduced the size of the darkness.Â
- Sybil fucking died
- Raynor killed it but it came back
- Raynor went down
- Bonk was enraged, saw through the darkness, and killed the devil in one shot.
After Sybil returned after being brought back by a priest, Bonk calmed down and ran away. Raynor was healed by a priest and got back up. Sybil uses ties that bind to find Bonk and talk to him. Sybil convinced Bonk to come back. As they are watching the next match, Bonk asks Raynor if he would help him kill the other contestant when she goes back to her room after the current fight. Sybil sneaks off to eavesdrop on the noble who was in the booth with Julianna (he is being questioned). He managed to overhear the end of the conversation. When Sybil got back to the group, the match had just finished so Bonk went off to the other contestant's room. Sybil followed behind at a distance. Bonk went to her room and somehow convinced her to forfeit the match and Bonk would give her the ticket to the treasury (he lied). Bonk, Sybil, and Raynor are told about their victory in their room. The announcer gave them all invisibility potions and led them out to the arena. The three are risen on a giant pillar and they are revealed as magic fireworks go off around them. After they are let down, people storm them and ask for autographs. Eventually, the three leave the coliseum and are paid 100 gp each. They are told to return the next day at noon to meet the King himself and collect their ticket from him. As the group goes through the city, they are bombarded with praise. They find an inn to stay at and don't need to pay of course. Bonk starts a pillow fight, Raynor punches Sybil, and Sybil bursts out the window and flies away.
Perceptive - Abraham, Styx, Vekran
Styx, Abraham, and Vekran leave the city of Norwich through a door created by a magical key to the capital, Windmere. Styx and Abraham get a room for the night(it's like 2 pm), while Abraham is carrying the unconscious body of Vekran. They go to the room, lock the door, and put Vekran on the bed to tie him up. Unfortunately for the two, Vekran is awoken by the movement and they all go back and forth with questions and remarks, eventually deciding to all go to the Scardoth members in the capital to get information after they all rest. However, Vekran leaves and gets his own room and Styx learns that there are no refunds. In the middle of the night, Styx has a dream about someone stabbing her in a room and wakes up to see a rat in her face. She carefully picks up the rat and places it on Abraham's face. Abraham wakes up and instantly grabs the rat so hard that it dies in an explosion of blood. Abraham then goes to a well outside and washes up. When they all awake, they all set off in the dead of night(~10 pm). As they walk to the Scardoth agents, a guard momentarily stops them to ask where they are going at this time of night. They convince the guard they are just going back home from a night out and he leaves them with a warning about not wandering out near midnight. Once they arrive at the right place, Abraham notices empty bottles of Flavia wine and Vekran discovers a loose stone. He pushes it in and it slides aside revealing a set of eyes. A voice asked what they wanted and they said that Tolbin sent them. They were let in and led to the leader who told Abraham everything he knew about Wilkes as well as sent someone to find him. Vekran and Styx, on the other hand, weren't given any of the information they were looking for. Instead, the leader of the Scardoth agents told them that he would answer their questions if they stole something from him. The thing he wanted them to steal was a chest that was in the possession of a wealthy merchant who had ties to the Golward syndicate. The three all traveled to the mansion of the merchant. Vekran went to the back and carefully used his scythe to masterfully cut a perfect circle out of a glass window and entered. Styx climbed the walls and went down the chimney. Abraham looked at how expensive the door was and decided to wait outside and keep watch. Thankfully, it was a peaceful night with nothing but silence and darkness. Vekran entered the kitchen and was starting to look around when a giant constrictor snake wrapped around his leg. Styx entered the living room and looked around, soon finding Vekran fighting the snake. She shot the snake in the head and pinging it to the wall. She then went to the front door and let Abraham in. Vekran went upstairs while Styx and Abraham searched downstairs. Vekran found the merchant's extravagant bedroom with him sleeping in his bed and the merchant's dog lying beside the bed. Vekran used some rope to tie up the dog and merchant, but as he was trying to tie up the merchant, he woke up. The merchant screamed in terror and Vekran knocked him in the head with the end of his scythe as Abraham and Styx ran up the stairs. Now awake, the dog fucking teleports out of the rope and tries to bite Abraham. Abraham and Styx subdue the dog and Styx also fires an arrow into the merchant's hand pinging it to the wall. The three then questioned the merchant, stole some stuff(the chest, the key to the chest, a gold bar, a golden pyramid, a bag of devouring, and his dog which Abraham tamed), and left to go to the inn they were staying at, because the Golward contact was also staying there. Once they got to the inn, they had the dog track the scent of the contact and found his room. They then investigated the room, eventually finding an illusionary floorboard underneath a desk. The compartment under the floor contained some loose coins and two scrolls. One was a note about returning to Windmere from the tournament in Norwich soon, written by "V". The other was written in draconic and the three couldn't understand its meaning. As they were leaving the contacts room, a dragonborn who just came from the merchant's mansion burst through the door and confronted them. Styx tried to lie but failed. The dragonborn yelled, "You lying bitch!" Combat begins.

- The party finishes their meals and head to the west gate where they find two royal knights waiting for them. One is a dwarf named Almin and the other is a human named Irene.
- The party heads out of the city on a carriage, being driven by Irene and Almin.
- After a bit of travel, they find themselves at an oddly large flower field and the carriage stops.

- Bonk's bird friend convinces Bonk to leave the carriage.
- Bonk and his bird both eat some of the flowers, causing the field to become aggravated.

- After leaving Maria's Mystical Relics, a Scardoth agent informs the party that the identity of a Golward agent has been discovered.

- The party heads to the pub and find the guy.
- After many failed attempts to get the location of the hideout (they even bought him like 15 drinks), they eventually just knock him out and bring him into an alley.Â
- The party takes everything of value he has and then climb up to a rooftop overlooking the alley to see where Mark goes after he wakes up.
- The party has a bit of conflict and Styx rolls the Dodecahedron of Doom, causing darkness to envelope the area.Â
- Once the darkness clears, Mark is nowhere to be seen.Â
- The party attempts to follow the trail of blood left behind, leading them to a rooftop with an empty healing potions on the edge of the roof. The trail goes cold from there.
- The party investigates an inn that Mark had mentioned while drunk where a Golward initiate is staying called the Owl's Eye. (If you have trouble reading that, I don't blame you, so did I.)
- The party talks to the owner an Owlin woman who speaks in exclusively owl puns and she tells them what room the person they are looking for is.
- The person is named Layla Urder and she is going to an initiation to become a Golward agent of the last day of the month (Quin).
- The party spends the time before the initiation to stalk Layla and memorize her mannerisms and speech patterns.
- Also, Abraham invented the revolver and Vekran stole the patents for it. So Abraham has a revolver now.
- A few days before the initiation, a noble announces a hunting competition taking place in the northwestern forest on the last day of the month. Aaron informs the party that the noble in question has tied to the Golward Syndicate.
- Finally, it is initiation day. The party tails Layla as she makes her way to the designed location. Right before she turns the final corner, Abraham and Styx grab either side of the pouch of holding and scoop Layla into the pouch. Vekran then immediately uses disguise self to change into Layla and turns the corner to find 7 other people waiting around for something.Â
- After about 30 seconds, another person appears out of nowhere followed by 7 others. Each of the 8 pair up with one of the people already waiting and all head off in different directions.
- The guide brings Vekran through the city, making several unnecessary turns and movements in order to lose any tails. However, Abraham and Styx still remain on their tail thanks to Vekran making it very difficult for the guide to be stealthy by "accidentally" dropping bread crumbs and "accidentally" making loud noises.
- The guide leaves the city after a bit and brings the two of them to a large rock. The guide holds his hand on a part of the rock for 10 seconds and then whacks it, causing some rock beside it to slide back and open.
- Inside is a regular looking tavern. The guide and Vekran walk in and the door closes behind them. (Styx and Abraham wait for a bit before returning to the city.)
- The guide recites the words "May this ward be lifted in Julianna's name" and the tavern facade fades away to reveal a staircase leading downward into a massive cavern filled with people.Â
- The guide brings Vekran to a tent in the center before leaving him there. Vekran meets a man named Victor who was talking to an Owlin, but he ends his conversation when "Layla" shows up.
- Victor shows Vekran into a small off-shoot of the cavern where there is already two other initiates inside waiting.
- Victor says "Golward agents need to be prepared for any situation and need to be able to work well with anyone. As such, good luck." He then disappears and the entrance to the cavern off-shoot caves in.
- The cave fills with spiders and Vekran, along with the two initiates, fend off the creatures.
- Victor will clear the cave-in with Arcane Hand and congratulate them on becoming Golward agents. He tells them to report back here in a week.

- Sybil feels something in the air and goes outside to investigate. He watches as a beam of golden light piercing the clouds and falls down a few blocks away from him.
- We cut to Styx, Abraham, and Vekran who had just opened the pyramid containing the Ring of Shooting Stars.Â
- Vekran tries it on and sees how it looks.
- Suddenly, a beam of golden light shoots down from the heavens and strikes Styx, nearly killing her in an instant.Â
- Abraham tries to help her up as Vekran laughs at her unconscious body.Â
- I believe it was Abraham (might have been Vekran) that say that the golden beam was caused by a single golden coin with a engraving of a four-leafed clover on each side.Â
- After Abraham stabilizes Styx, a guard (yes, that one) shows up and asks if everyone is alright.Â
- After making sure that they are all okay, he returns to his patrol.
- Arriving on the scene is Sybil, who immediately offer to revive Styx, who isn't dead, for some coin.
- I believe Sybil healed Styx in return for 1 sp.
- After awaking and talking a bit, Styx realized that all her money was gone (pp, gp, ep, sp, and cp).
- From across the city, Raynor, who is almost at the palace, suddenly has a thought that there is something valuable nearby and rushes toward the area, meeting up with the rest of the party.
- Raynor offers to purchase the single golden coin for 100 gp, which would seem like an amazing deal for Styx unless you knew that the golden coin was worth 1000 gp at least (since it contains the divine power of Clover).
- After a bit more chatter and some friendly battery (the crime, not the power source), Aaron, the head of the Scardoth Syndicate Windmere Branch, appears and tells Vekran, Abraham, and Styx that everyone is ready to either defend or attack, but he wanted to ask their opinion.
- Upon a brief deliberation, it was decided that they would attack Julianna before she attacks them. However, in order to attack, they will need to know the location of the T.U.F. HQ, which Sybil knows thankfully.
- Raynor heads back toward the palace and the rest of the party follows him.
- Raynor shows the ticket to the guard.
- After about 20 minutes, the gates open and a man dressed in fine clothing walks out and introduces himself as Fredrick Ariycht, the head of commerce and treasury.Â
- Sir Ariycht lead the group through the palace and down a laughably long staircase.
- At the end of the stairs, there is a small platform (about 20 feet front to back as well as side to side) with a tall, thin entryway covered in a dimly glowing golden light at the center of the back wall and two guards stationed on either side.
- Upon noticing Sir Ariycht and the party, the guards, who were previously slouching and relaxed, straighten their backs and change their expressions to be more stern.
- Sir Ariycht momentarily stops at the doorway and place his hand on the barrier, causing the barrier to dissolve in a ripple effect from his hand.
- The party enters the treasury, a giant room filled with glittering treasures neatly arranged on tables and along the walls.
- After a large amount of deliberation, Raynor decided to take the Hellfire Blade, a weapon forged from the fires below, and immediately used it to destroy the Soul Coin of Gluttony, causing an explosion.
- Left behind where the coin once was, there was now a small pool of pitch-black blood.Â
- Raynor decided to eat it and in doing so caused the remaining blood to piercing into his flesh.Â
- Raynor survived and became attuned to the Blood of Gluttony, a powerful artefact fueled by the form granted to Gluttony by the Usurper.
- The party then left the treasury and split into their previous groupings.
- Sybil returned to Oswald with Raynor and Oswald gave Sybil the book, now free of its enchantment.
- At the same time, Vekran, Styx, and Abraham followed the map that was on the slip of paper given to Vekran by the astral elf woman at the bestiary. They found a camouflaged door near the entrance to an alley.Â
- After a bit of talking, Vekran and Abraham decided to free the slaves that were held prisoner here.
- Styx used her blessing from Ignia, Fade Away, to take the keys and unlock all of the cages.
- After Vekran had pinned down the astral elf, Sybil and Raynor showed up.
- Raynor went into the back and took credit for what Styx di.....I mean, uh, Raynor used his super awesome amazing telekinetic powers to unlock all the cages simultaneously and free all the slaves.Â
- Abraham found 5,000 gp behind the counter and divided amongst himself, Vekran, Sybil, and Raynor.
- Styx slipped into the other room and opened the massive vault that was there. She then stuffed as much money as she could in her Pouch of Holding, fitting like 22,000 gp inside out of the total 50,000 gp inside the vault.
- Raynor took most of the rest by eating it and putting it into the extradimensional plane inside his stomach (Blood of Gluttony).
- The party also gave each of the slaves 10 gp, of which there was ~100.
- Surprising no one, security arrived, but they were no match for the party and were quickly defeated.
- After that whole ordeal, the party went to Moxie's Magical Artefacts and looked at some magic items.
- However, Sybil was immediately kicked out for steal from the clerk's sister (S3).
- Vekran bought the Horn of Blasting and Sybil had Raynor buy the Living Gloves for him.
- The session ended with Styx deliberating over purchasing the Instant Fortress.
Whilst restrained by the kraken's tentacle underwater, Bonk attempts to call out to Ruith but to no avail as Ruith is trapped within the confines of his own mind, unable to respond. Bonk, in a desperate attempt to be free from the kraken's grasp, chowed down on some delicious calamari. In doing so, Bonk had ignited the kraken's rage and the creature slowly extended its long tentacle far above the surface of the water. Bonk seeing the light of the surface is filled with nothing but joy. However, this is short-lived as the tentacles moves back, tapping Bonk's head against the surface before it unceremoniously launches his small body into the sky. As Bonk flew, he could see the world from a new perceptive. The towns he passed were so small, he could miss them amongst the trees and cliffs that litter the land of Rulbari. Unfortunately for Bonk, his site seeing was about to come to an end.Â
- Everyone is shopping still when they see a comet pass across the sky
- Styx decides to buy the Instant Fortress and everyone goes to investigate the comet.
- They all find Bonk smushed into the ground and also he's almost dead (that seems important).
- Sybil heals him and everyone decides to finally take a long-deserved rest.
- Also, Sybil has someone (Abraham or Raynor, I don't remember which) buy him the Boots of Cunning Action from Maria's Mystical Relics, since he was also kicked out of the store for stealing from the clerk's sister.
- Everyone heads over to the Scardoth hideout to prepare for the raid. Everyone except for Bonk.
- Bonk heads over to the location Sybil had told him about, the tavern with no name.
- Bonk heads inside and somehow manages to convince the bar tender to meet with Julianna.Â
- Bonk is taken down to the strategy floor and miraculously persuades Julianna and Caspain for him to join them.
- Back in the Scardoth hideout, the group has prepared a large amount of traps.
- The stairs leading to the hideout have a trip wire near the end that causes walls to pop up around the stairs and for alchemist's fires to rain down from the ceiling. Then the party would flip a lever and a boulder would fall on the top of the stairs and roll all the way down, crushing everyone. After all that, Vekran would then throw in the Dodecahedron of Doom, which has been weighted as to only roll a 1 or 2. Finally, Styx would throw in the Instant Fortress in case anyone survived.
- After a long wait, people began to enter the hideout.Â
- They tripped all of the traps, but even after all of them, 5 of the 20 still remained.
- Sybil flew over and grabbed the Dodecahedron of Doom and threw it again, killing two more.
- Tubs managed to sniff out the last three and the archers bombarded them with arrows.
- Finally, it was the main event. Caspain appeared flying above everyone and attempted to cast Crown of Madness on Sybil, but he succeeded the save.
- "Julianna" also arrived with Bonk close behind (as well as Julianna).
- "Julianna" cast fireball on half the archers, killing them all instantly.
- After some more back and forth, Raynor manages to kill "Julianna", causing her to revert back to her changeling form.
- As "Julianna" died, Julianna hopped off of her shoulder and transformed into her humanoid form.
- In the same moment, Sebastian, the leader of the Scardoth Syndicate, teleported in.
- Ruith breaks free from the kraken's grasp and uses his starlight to teleport out of the river, meeting Bonk's bird on the docks.
- Ruith then followed Bonk's bird toward the capitol, eventually, finding the cavern where the battle was taking place.
- Ruith convinces Bonk to betray Julianna and join their side again.
- Julianna kills the changeling because she was useless.
- The majority of the Scardoth Syndicate Windmere Branch agents were killed after Julianna used time stop to cast 4 7th-level fireballs (Sebastian, Aaron, and the agent telling stand up in A1S8 aren't catch in the fireball's area).
- Styx throws the soul coin of wrath into the air and Abraham grabs the Skin of Wrath, attuning to it.
- The agent telling stand up in A1S8 died from Circle of Death.
- Raynor reappeared after having previously vanished after the real Julianna had revealed her self.
- After Julianna was finally defeated she had complete a ritual, sacrificing the souls of her 5 undead servants in the process (Including Vekran's Wife and Mother). Her body withers and contorted before she disappeared in a void of light.
- After battle was over, the party rested before leaving the cavern for the last time.
- The party spent 30 days within the city having some downtime, except for Bonk who journeyed all the way to the junkyard he was born in and then back after discovering that all of his family was gone.
- Abraham worked to build another revolver and two hunting rifles, giving the revolver to Vekran and the two rifles to Styx and Sybil.
- Styx used the time to create a Clay Golem using the Book of Golems.
- Vekran and Sybil used their time to craft magical objects.
- Raynor create an item never before seen called a Perfect Oxygen-absorbing Kinetically-activated Eternal Boundless Apprehending Liminal Lattice, or a P.O.K.E.B.A.L.L. for short, using the iron bands of binding as a base.
- Ruith prayed to his goddess Lunaris to learn the ways to Astral magic.
- Vekran, Sybil, and Styx all trained in the use of their new weapons and became proficient in them.
The timeline has been updated with three new events:Â
The Last Laugh
Capitol Lockdown
Criminal Resurgence
Notes taken by John. Written out by Cohen.
- Styx and Abraham set up Vekran and the owl girl on a fate with Abraham posing as the waiter, but Vekran leaves as soon as he realizes what is happening.Â
- Abraham does get paid 1 gold though, as it was payday.
- Vekran uses the teleportation scroll, but while he casts it, the spell turns from blue to purple.
- Once the spell is cast, everyone is somewhere different. Abraham is in the middle of a battlefield, Styx is on the Crimson Blade's ship, and Vekran is in the middle of a field.Â
- Abraham is fighting with Wilkes, but notices some inconsistencies and becomes suspicious. He tries to lie down and go to bed, opening his eyes to see the same exact battlefield before his just as it was a minute ago. Abraham realizes that this isn't real and, without a second thought, holds down Wilkes so that a brass dragonborn can kill him.
- Styx realizes that this isn't real rather quickly when the inconsistencies show up, such as Ri not being there and the crew not remembering him. She kills some of her crew and resets the world several times, praying to Eve for answers each time. Eventually, her prayers are answered and she is told that in order to get out of this "dream" she will need to cause the destruction of her crew by the hands of the Elwin forces. She does so without hesitation.
- Vekran goes toward a farmhouses and sees his wife making lunch, or was it dinner? Or perhaps breakfast? The inconsistencies make Vekran suspicious and he investigates. He finds a picture of his wife, mother, and himself in the living room, but it keeps slightly changing every time he looks at it. He goes up stairs to the bedroom and notices that the bedsheets change from blue to red. He eventually decides to just leave and finds himself at a Golward hideout with Julianna inside. He attacks Julianna, causing her to leave to enact great violence on his family.Â
- Everyone blinks and are in different places.
- Vekran is now a balding man named Bob that runs an inn and runs out of the inn, ignoring the customer that was trying to get a room for the night.
- Styx is now a human women and is in the middle of a market square with a merchant that keeps repeating, "Apples for sale! Apples for sale! Only 2 copper pieces each!"
- Abraham is a dwarvish man in a court room in the witness box during an ongoing trial.
Prologue:
During the month timeskip, Raynor, Sybil, and Ruith have been staying at the inn with the really hot owl, whilst Bonk travels to meet his family. He finds that they’ve gone missing, and travels back.Â
Session start:
Raynor wakes up and almost immediately a letter from the king arrives. It’s an invitation to his banquet in a week’s time, this is of course to celebrate their winning of the Alibus tournament. He tells everyone and Sybil decides to spill the beans as to what this means. Essentially that the king had his soul swapped with a devil who is going to gain so much power that he could alter the timeline itself, and bring about the end of the world. He also shows them some words that were given to him forever ago that says, “Wait for the King. Join Him for Dinner"
We speak with the Maliduris coin, who says that he remembers being betrayed by his advisors, who were all disguised devils. He fell sick and they gave him a potion, the king also remembers how they made it. He details out the recipe:
Mix the Blood of a Fiend and the Oil of Slipperiness.
Boil over Hellfire.
Add a crown made of dawnwood leaves and the legs of a phase spider.
Let simmer for 1-2 days
Cool using Bottled Breath to save time.
We go to the cave that once was the Golward syndicate to search for a phase spider, though we don’t know what it looks like. Raynor rolls a nat 1 and with full confidence, convinces everyone that we misheard phase spider and it is instead a “face” spider. We try to get in the cave but it was caved in by authorities, but Raynor easily cuts through the boulder with his swords.
We look around the inside of the cave and find a dartboard made of a dead giant spider with a wanted poster over its head. Sybil goes to rip a leg off of the “face spider”, and accidentally throws it directly into a conveniently placed chasm. Sybil goes to fly down and grab the leg, though there’s a mean looking blue glowing spider next to it. Sybil doesn’t want to deal with it and asks Raynor, who then throws a dart that fucking demolishes this poor spider who was just minding his own business. Sybil cries inside and puts the phase spider leg into his bag of holding.Â
We next need a crown made of dawnwood tree leaves. Though dawnwood trees are incredibly rare and therefore incredibly hard to find. Despite Sybil living there for 6 years, Raynor managed to find one before Sybil.
Sybil has Raynor to cut down this profoundly rare tree. Regretting the decision almost immediately, we bargained with bonk to mend the tree, and in return Bonk slit Sybil’s wrist.Â
While mending the tree, Bonk talks to his bird Braeden, and asks him a few questions. His ring of animal influence glows, and Doom music begins playing as the voice of Mephistopheles, Lord of the Burning Spire, Slaughter of the 9 Saints, and Beast at the Edge of the World, comes booming from the bird. *Cohen had a fantastic voice changer for this part.*
Bonk asks Mephistopheles, Lord of the Burning Spire, Slaughter of the 9 Saints, and Beast at the Edge of the World, a few questions. And Mephistopheles, Lord of the Burning Spire, Slaughter of the 9 Saints, and Beast at the Edge of the World, says that he has bonded himself to Bonk because he sensed his burning desire for destruction and chaos. Mephistopheles, Lord of the Burning Spire, Slaughter of the 9 Saints, and Beast at the Edge of the World, also says that he kinda doesn’t like Raynor for being human, kinda likes Sybil for being a half-fiend, and is indifferent to Ruith.
As the tree is mending, Sybil just flies up and grabs a bunch of leaves off the tree like he could’ve done from the beginning.
Since they’re already in the woods outside Windmere, they stop by Sybil’s hut to make the potion, with the other potions he “acquired” in session 2.
We make it to the party, Raynor in his black and white suit, and Sybil in a black and red one. Bonk asks his bird who he should talk to, the bird points to one Roche Copperhall. Bonk rizzes him up and Roche begins speaking in his usual terrible French accent, beginning everything he says with “ahuhuhu”. Bonk goes to wander around the castle when Roche leaves,Â
Raynor approaches an old family friend, Bob Chrysanthemum. Raynor informs him of his family’s downfall and talks about how great he is for freeing like a thousand slaves.Â
We finally sit down and after a minute the king begins to make a toast, yet as he does so we cut back to a few days earlier. With heist flashback music playing, we see Sybil using divination magic to find out which company was going to supply the wine for the party. Raynor wears a different suit and Sybil uses the helmet of disguise self to make himself appear as if he were human.Â
The two of them convince the people that are there that they were wine inspectors. We cut to them pouring the cauldron of the potion that they made, retrieved from the bag of holding into each barrel.Â
The real inspectors come and they skedaddle through a window before they are noticed.Â
We cut back to the toast and music begins to build, growing into glorious victory as the king goes to sip his drink.
But something different happened that night. The music doesn’t break into a grand climax, it instead dips back down, way down. Silence, then Lacrimosa begins to creep in. Sybil feels the soul leave the coin and be replaced with the new soul. Sybil glances over to see life leave the king's eyes and they turn a deep black, but for just for a moment, and turn right back. He lets a grim smile across his face, and finishes the toast. Sybil’s eyes widen, and hears the voice of a familiar man say, “Hello? What is this? Where am I?” The king's eyes snap to Sybil and Raynor. Sybil rises up as almost out of instinct, fast he can and goes to Raynor who seems to not be on the same page.Â
“Raynor, come with me. We need to leave right now.” (Sybil)
“What? Right now?” (Raynor)
“Yes! Right now c'mon godsdamnit” (Sybil)
“Ok, alright” “What is it?” (Raynor)
“The coin Raynor! It never really was Maliduris” “The coin gods dammit! Where did you get it!?” “The Maliduris coin! You lied, it lied! It was never the king! It was a devil! The king never switched to begin with!” (Sybil)
“Oh gentlemen! My grand tournament winners! Where are you running off to now?”Â
“Nothing were just—” (Sybil)
“Should we go back? What about Bonk?” (Raynor)
“We could just leave him” (Sybil)
“No we need to go back and convince him that we’re on his side.” (Raynor)
“Ok” (Sybil)
Sybil tried to use command “drink” and despite having a 21 save dc, the devil easily brushed it off.Â
Instead of reacting the devil then gestures towards the chairs that Sybil and Raynor were sitting in. They move down toward the end of the table, next to the devil, and the other chairs shift back. The other guests seem oblivious.
Sybil runs away, Raynor stays, and Bonk is walking around aimlessly
The devil talks to Raynor, and notices that Raynor is attuned to the Blood of Gluttony. The devil makes a remark about giving the sins form and attempts to enact some control over the blood. It works somewhat. The devil then excuses himself, saying that he has some gemstones to find, and leaves the hall.
Bonk walks around and finds a magic hand mirror that can show the true form of creatures. And an odd magical circlet.Â
He hears a sending message from Sybil saying, “This is Sybil, King Maliduris is now a devil, do not trust him, meet me back at the inn, you can respond to this message.” Bonk ignores it. On his way around the castle, he finds Wilkes. They speak and *I don’t remember what Wilkes said*. (Wilkes said he was going to the library and Bonk had asked him some questions.)
End of session.
- Abraham, Styx, and Vekran are all in another dream, but this time it isn't theirs.
- Abraham is in the body of a dwarvish man in the witness stand of a court room.
- Styx is in the body of a human woman in a market square.Â
- Vekran is in the body of a balding, human man in the inn that he runs.
- Vekran runs out of the ignoring the customer attempting to buy a room for the night. He looks around and realizes that he is in Windmere, but not quite. He runs back in and grabs the savings of Bob, the body he is in. He then finds a stables and purchases a horse, setting off for Elwin. After a bit, he sees a city in the distance. It's Windmere.Â
- Abraham gives his testimony to a murder that happened a week ago, but obviously he has no clue what happened and butchers the testimony. His testimony ends and he leaves the stand and continues to watch the trial. The murder's victim and motive keeps changing, but the motive is always something about vengeance. The jury deliberates and comes to the verdict of guilty. Abraham is let out and gets bored so he break a ton of guard's fingers.
- Styx goes to the palace and scales the wall, finding that the palace and the walls surrounding it are made entirely of gold. The interior is just one big party room. Styx sees someone she recognizes in the throne at the back of the room. It's Mark, the drunk Golward agent from session 5. Styx finds the armory and disguises herself as a knight. She then goes up to the king and convinces him that there is an assassin after him, which causes one of the guests to become an assassin. Styx stops the assassin then turns to attack the king, but a knight jumps in the way and prevents him from being hit. Styx then attack from point-blank range and stabs his heart.
- Abraham, Styx, and Vekran all return to their original state at the start of the dream.Â
- Abraham hits the judge with his chair and rips a guard's head off.Â
- Vekran visits Maria's Mystical Relics and learns that IF he were in dream-like prison, it would be best to make the dream as unpleasant as possible for the dreamer. Vekran then returns to Bob's Inn and sets it on fire.Â
- Styx and Abraham notice the fire and head toward it.
- Styx pretends to be Abraham and Vekran is oblivious to her deception.
- The party goes to the palace and causes a ton of chaos.
- Styx convinces Mark that this is all a dream and the world starts to disintegrate.
- A guy shows up out of nowhere and drills a hole in Mark's head and pulls out a silver strand.
- The world repairs itself and the guy disappears with a snap of his fingers.
- The party then just basically tortures this guy, but to go into more detail: Abraham breaks all of his fingers, Styx convinces him that he is afraid of rats and they are eating him alive (so it happens), and Vekran takes his crown to make himself king and then has the party guests throw glasses at Mark.
- The dream ends and a new one begins.
- This time Abraham is an eladrin man, Vekran is an eladrin woman, and Styx is a Tressym (a cat with wings). Everyone is near a street that is packed with people on the edge of it and a carriage is riding down the center.
- Styx stealthily lands on the carriage and sees who's inside. It's the sad guy that Vekran consoled in session 4.
- Styx cuts the rope connecting the horses to the carriage.
- Abraham and Vekran head to where the end of the carriage's path and find an altar with a priest standing behind it and some people in chairs near that (it's a wedding). Vekran sits in an empty seat and ask what the date is. He's told that it is the 5th of Quin in the year 2590. Vekran recognizes this as the day Lenora Tumilus and Cleoss Aincrad were married.
- The guy in the carriage gets out and rides the rest of the way on one of the horses.
- He arrives to the altar and waits for the bride.
- The bride arrives and she is then immediately killed by Abraham.
- Vekran quicky disguises himself as the bride, using him Mask of Many Faces.
- When the priest asks if there is any objections, Vekran says that he (or you use the pronouns of his disguise?) cheated on the groom.
- The groom says, "NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" and runs off.
- The party hears the sound of snapping in the distance and the dream resets.
- The party does basically everything the same, except the following: Styx hides on the grooms back, this time Vekran objects on the grounds that he is gay, and Abraham tackles the groom to the ground when he tries to run away.
- The dream ends and another one begins.
Bonk overhears two people discussing the headache the city lockdown has caused. One of the two talks about how they investigated the destruction of the Golward and T.U.F. and they have almost found the culprit, or culprits.
Raynor stays at the dinner and talks to Bob Chrysanthemum. He gives Raynor an invitation to the manor he is staying at, claiming that he can stop by there anytime.Â
The manor is owned by Erikur Kilgore, Bob is staying there.
Ruith is still sleeping, and in his dream, he’s in a black void. He feels the glowing emanating energy from his ring. He sees in the distance, a flicker of light. It flickers more and more and more until the void is full of different flecks of light that take the shape of stars in the night sky. All the lights begin to swirl and spiral, that makes streaks. They all slowly wrap around a pyramid, making speckles of light lighting the pyramid. As it forms the ring glows even brighter, and a door begins to form and open in the pyramid. Light beams him down and before his eyes can adjust, he wakes up.
He sees a note on his nightstand, it’s from Sybil, “We went to the party”
He notices his ring pulsate rhythmically. He meditates on it to find any meaning, he realizes that the lights represented the souls of the other astral elves. He then heads to the party, only to meet an out of breath Sybil on the way out. Ruith tells Sybil about his vision, and Sybil explains his, as he does so he reveals their big mistake last session. They both agree to help rescue Bonk and Raynor.
Bonk goes around, tries to find any secret passageways, and decides to roam some more, walking into bathrooms without knocking, the usual. He walks into a study, and finds a bearded gentleman, brown hair, gray clothes, and green eyes. He asks Bonk what he’s doing here and Bonk says that he was drugged and kidnapped by a guy who started every sentence with “aughuhuh”. The man somehow believes him and says he’ll investigate it, as well as Bonk’s missing family. Though he feels a strange presence watching him.
Ruiths ring pulsates intensely as he and Sybil pass by a jewelry store that was being robbed. They interject, and the robbers pour oil all over the store. A robed figure there produces a flame, and tries to hit anywhere in the store. He missed. Ruith chopped off one of the robber’s heads. Ruith persuaded the robbers to turn on their leader and Sybil forced the leader to grovel using command. The last robber killed the leader and then he lit a match, but Ruith convinced him to toss the match over. Then Ruith killed him too. The reason the ring was pulsing was because one of the hostages in the store was an astral elf. While Ruith released her from her bindings, he said that they were the same, referring to them both being astral elves. However, the woman said that Ruith was a murderer and they were nothing alike. Ruith managed to convince her to follow him though.
Bonk goes to find the source of the presence and finds a strange owl. The owl says that they’re a familiar, and Bonk tries really really hard to make it his friend. The owl agrees, but only if Bonk returns the mirror he took first. The owl flies to the room that Bonk had stolen it from and waits for Bonk to put it back. Bonk tries to trick the owl, but it doesn’t seem to work so he actually puts it back. The owl then flies to a different room with a bookshelf that opens up to a seemingly very expensive room full of plants, books, and other nick nacks. There’s a woman who’s petting the owl and Bonk greets her. She’s making a potion in quite a large cauldron. She introduces herself as Daelia and compliments his bird. Bonk says that his name is Mephistopheles, Lord of the Burning Spire, Slaughterer of the Nine Saints, and the Beast at the Edge of the World. Daelia recognizes the name and says that the bird’s name is the same as a fiend that was killed by Alibus at the end of the fiendish outbreak. Bonk denies it because he’s very clearly a bird.Â
Daelia then teaches Bonk how to make a diminution potion, though he doesn’t get it on the first try. Bonk asks her if she could help him find out about where he came from and how he was made. She uses a divination spell and finds that the god that grants him his powers, is in the eve pantheon. She also finds that Bonk’s soul has been corrupted in some way and he is slowly dying.
Bonk confesses that he was taken away from his family, and that his mind is foggy. She says that she’s willing to help him find out about his past. Bonk says that he simply doesn’t know anything of what or who he is. He doesn’t even know what god gives him his powers. He reads on the children of Anastasia in a guest room.
Ruith and Sybil arrive at the gate, claiming that they want to apologize to the king for not making it for the dinner, and for running out abruptly. They make it inside, and rush to find Bonk, all the while avoiding the King using Ruith’s Divine Sense.Â
They go searching to rescue Bonk as he hides because reasons. Bonk tells his bird to lead Sybil and Ruith astray, though he is caught anyways a little while later just reading the book in a guest room.
Sybil and Ruith confront Bonk, who doesn’t want to leave. Bonk says that he can handle himself and really needs to do this for his own growth. He needs to know what he is, how he was created, the origin of his powers, and especially, who he is.
Ruith respects his decision but Sybil is hesitant. The three of them talk to one another to gain an understanding of the situation. The party agrees to let Bonk go for a while, and work on other matters for now. Bonk lets Sybil tie a string of fate onto him so that they know his location at all times, just as a safety measure. They then leave the castle.
- The party finds themselves standing on a small rock island in a sea of acid.
- They realized that this was probably the dream of the clay golem, since clay golems regenerate when exposed to acid.
- Styx called out to clay golem and the golem responded by floating up to the surface.
- The only issue is that the golem can't swim.
- The group jumps from rock to rock in order to get closer to the golem, but Vekran and Styx both fall in at the last jump. They both swim to the rock island.
- Abraham attempts to launch Styx onto the golem, but ends up throwing her 5 feet into the acid.
- He tries again and Styx manages to land on the golem.
- Vekran takes the rope off the side of his bag and Abraham throws the rope towards Styx and the golem.
- Styx barely manages to grab the rope.
- Abraham pulls with all his might on the rope but unfortunately he pulled too hard and Styx didn't have enough time to get a good grip, so the rope was flung into the acid.
- Styx convinces the golem that it can swim and the golem starts to slowly move over to the rock island.
- Once they were at the rock island, they convinced the golem to end the dream and it ended.
- The group blinked and they were in a land without plant life, only the skeletons of trees. In the area, there was a bunch of giant animals fighting each other as well as the leftover remains of dead ones that have been picked dry of their meat. Over head giant vultures circled the area.Â
- The group decided to kill some of the animals to get the vultures to come down.
- Styx fired a carefully placed shot on a red dragon wyrmling, rendering it half-dead in an instant.
- While that was happening, Abraham was noticed by a t-rex and Vekran was noticed by a giant ape.
- Abraham tried to shoot the beast but missed and it bit him, holding him in its teeth. He then managed to escape, but then he grabbed him again.
- Vekran attacked the ape with his scythe I think
- I honestly don't remember the fight that well, but Vekran did realize that psychic damage was doubled in the dream and destroyed literally everything using his two spell slots.
- The vultures flew down to have their meal and Abraham or Styx (I can't remember) found Vekran's vulture. Surprisingly, Vekran couldn't recognize which one was his.
- The group convinced the vulture to end the dream.
- Unfortunately, this time the lab coat guy showed up.Â
- They managed to defeat the guy and the dream ended
- Everyone blinked and they ended up in a snowy tundra.Â
- The forest around them was in a harsh blizzard and they couldn't see more than 20 feet in front of them.
- The group had access to their magic items after having defeated the lab coat guy, so Styx threw down her instant fortress.
- Abraham got on the top of the tower, Vekran oiled him up, and Abraham lit himself on fire, serving as a beacon.
- The group waited and eventually a pack of winter wolves showed up with Tubbs as the leader.
- Abraham put himself out and put him clothes back on.
- The party went down and talked to Tubbs, convincing her to end the dream.
- The party blink and are in a ruined town with corpses littered around.
- Sebastian walks out of one of the houses and throws a body toward a small pile.
- The party explains to Sebastian that he is in a dream and he needs to wake up, but he already figured most of that out.
- Apparently, every time he tries to end the dream, a lady with a lab coat on drills a hole in his head and resets the dream, so he has been passing the time by pillaging and stuff.
- The party asks him to try again and he does so, causing the lab coat lady to appear.
- *gun noises*
- *fireball noises*
- *mind thrust noises*
- *more fireball noises*
- The party ended up defeating the lab coat lady and the dream finally ended.
- The party found that everyone that was involved in the teleportation spell, except for Wilkes, were all back on the streets of Windmere.Â
I'll start by saying that this session was only 1 hour long and I don't really remember most of what happened. However, I tried to put together glimpses of my memory.
- Daelia asked Bonk if he wanted to try hands-on learning, but he declined
- Daelia instead tested Bonk's knowledge by asking a bunch of questions about spells, monsters, and common magical items.
- Afterward, Daelia taught Bonk how to make a potion of fire breath and he managed to figure it out quite quickly.
- Bonk then asked for a complete list of every room he has yet to explore in the palace, which she needs time to prepare.
- In the mean time, Daelia offers Bonk one of the magic items from her room and Bonk grabs a sick pair of shades.
Ruith picks up Penelope, the astral elf we saved, and the two of them and Sybil walk out the castle.
On the way out though, Sybil can’t help but ask Ruith why he needed her, Ruith tells him that he needs to find astral elves to unlock that pyramid he told him about earlier.Â
“You need to find astral elves? Well there’s you, Penelope, that one guy we killed, oh and there’s that guy back at the -.”
The ground beneath Ruith cracks and he sinks into the ground, as it struggles to survive from his intense power and rage. “You did what?” Ruith says as the doom music soundtrack fades in.
“Oh calm down I didn’t kill her, it was the Crim-loving arsewhole, and Raynor ate her so she’s gone now and forever…She also sold people by the way.” Sybil explains,
Ruith calms down but Penelope is now deathly afraid of him now.
After some time, Sybil gets anxious by the strange looks being thrown their way and asks Penelope,
“It would be great if you walked yourself, can you promise us that you won’t run away? Because then Ruith would have to split your head in two.”
Penelope, still morbidly afraid of them, nods her head yes so Ruith puts her down.. on the ground.Â
Shortly after Sybil casted divination to get a lead onto the location of the gems that he saw in a vision that he had a WHILE back. (Session 0)
“Along your path, you will find.Â
A monster beneath a river wide,
A monster with tentacles a plenty,
That guards the gem you seek with…
Whatever the fuck rhymes with plenty”Â
Ruith guards Sybil as he’s ritual casting, and intimidates a few shady people until they pissed themselves.
We get back to the Owl’s Eye and Penelope sees the 3 beds that are there and says “At least you’ve got a bed for me.”
“Oh no there’s a 3rd one of us, he’s actually right there.” Sybil says as he points at the superstate of Raynor being here and the palace at the same time. Once acknowledged, Raynor’s superposition collapses and Penelope sighs. Neither he or Sybil were willing to give up their bed for her, so Sybil tells her “You could just sleep with Ruith, the two of you are the same kind”
“But I have an inn, I could all just sleep there-“Â
“What no, you’re ours” Sybil informs her, which makes the very afraid Penelope then immediately oblige.
Since astral elves don’t need sleep, the two of them instead meditate through the night, it doesn’t take as long as sleeping does, which means that they wake up extremely early.
They finish before everyone wakes up, (I’m talking about meditating of course). Soon after that, the two of them sit in silence in the dark, on the cramped bed, pressed against one another, the very confused Penelope starts to feel the tension but doesn’t know what to do because the wrong move might mean her certain death, so she just sits there. Ruith leans in behind her and whispers “So wanna get it on?” Penelope goes pale from a mix of terrified and disturbed drains her, she looks over her shoulder and asks if he means what we think he’s talking about.*
*We tried to pressure Cohen to say “fuck” for 10 minutes.
“What? Ew, no buddy, I don’t know why you would ever think of something like that. I don’t blame you though for trying though. What I meant was that you’re the first person who’s the same race as I am that I’ve met so far, I just wanted to get some talking about astral elves. Get your mind out of the gutter lady.” Ruith responds assertively. An overpowering wave of relief overcomes Penelope as she starts rambling on about Lunaris and their astral elves.
We all pack up and get ready to leave Windmere to go find the other astral elf that we saw a while back (Act 1 - Session 6) and to slay the river beast that captured Bonk and Ruith (Act 1 Session 8) as it holds the gems that the devils after.
The following info will likely be very wrong and/or missing a lot of detail because of how long it has been since the actual sessions.
- The party was back on the streets of Windmere
- The party went to the palace gate (they might have done something before this maybe)
- They went into the palace and went to the library
- I think Wilkes was in the library when they got there
- They investigated the library and found a book about unique applications of magic
- Page 73 of the book was missing
- Styx used the table of context to determine that the page was about an unique application of the Dream spell
- The party then asked Wilkes to call for the head of the arcane and supernatural, Daelia, because she had read the book before
- Vekran and Abraham left the palace and when to the magic shops in the city. They got some good info, I think
- When they got back they were ambushed and the royal knights help to fend off the attackers
- I think once Abraham and Vekran got back Daelia showed up
- I remember Vekran and Abraham leaving with Daelia to use Speak with Dead on the corpses of the ones that ambushed them outside the gate
- They got a bunch of info out of the corpses and returned to the library
- While the others were questioning the corpses, Styx tried to ask one of the elemental crystals on the ceiling (the equivalent of a camera with its own A.I.) who ripped the page out, but it insisted that the page was still there. Styx then asked it to read the page and it obliged, but as it was reading it disappeared from the crystal. Styx then pried out the crystal, but there was nothing in it
- When everyone is back in the library, Bonk just shows up out of nowhere and starts talking about a purple orb and how he got there
- Wilkes seems annoyed at Bonk's presence, which isn't uncommon, but a bit differently than normal
- Wilkes starts talking about how Bonk being there will make it more likely for the others to wake up or something and how he needs them to never leave
- He has an epiphany and transforms into a fucking time dragon
- At the start of the fight, Bonk is blasted by time breath and disappears
As the party heads toward the eastern gate, they spot a long line that has formed. The people are waiting for their turn to go through the security checkpoint. Once it is Ruith’s turn in line, he puts his magic items on the platform, other than his Molten Bronze Skin, and walks through the rectangular, person-sized detector. The detector beeps due to the magic armor he left on, but after convincing the guard, he is free to go through. Next up is Raynor who puts all of his magic items on the platform, but still sets off the detector. By using a handheld detector, the guard remarks that Raynor appears to be a magic item, most likely due to his blood. Raynor is allowed to pass. Sybil takes off all his magic items but his armor, for reasons, and walks through. The detector goes off and the guard uses his handheld detector to discover that the armor Sybil is wearing is cursed, preventing him from wanting to remove it. Finally, everyone makes it through the checkpoint and they all make their way east.Â
(Switch from third to first person)
Eventually, we arrive in the town of The Spire, and are confronted by a guard who investigated the gluttony monster from a while back (Act 1, Session 7). He claimed that they have eyewitness reports about the person who “donated” the gluttony soul coin to that homeless man. It was about 60 days ago, and the guard holds up a poster of a face who seems strikingly familiar. It could definitely be Wilkes, and the party remembers seeing him once or twice. Sybil in particular has a flashback seeing Wilkes absolutely fucking annihilate a man in full plate armor. (Act 1 - Session 6). We take the poster and tell him that we’re here to kill an incredibly dangerous beast in the river Naevia, when he asks what type of monster, we just call it an “Aboleth”. The guard starts to freak out and goes to tell the guards of the city. As he leaves, we dismiss Penelope because she can’t fight, and we don’t want her to die.
We buy invisibility and water breathing potions, and we were about to hire some mercenaries, but Ruith convinced Sybil that just the two of them could take it, saying “Nah, we’d win.” We step foot at the edge of the river and Sybil casts water walk, allowing them to walk around the surface of the water freely. We couldn’t figure out a way to summon it so Ruith blasts the water with several balls of lightning. Clouds start to fill the sky and darken, as a thunderstorm forms overhead, A tentacle shoots out from the water, and combat begins. Sybil tried shooting it with his gun and it dinks off, Ruith follows it up with 2 smites, which doesn’t seem to phase the tentacle all that much either. In response, the tentacle lashes out and grapples Ruith, and the two of them are struck by lightning strikes as 2 tentacles come up out of the water. Sybil basically abandons Ruith, drinks his invisibility potion and dips below the water's surface. He spots an orange glimmer all the way down at the bottom of the river, and starts to close the distance. Ruith is nearly incapable of doing anything, and is struck repeatedly by the other tentacles. He’s then thrown into a nearby building, as 4 more tentacles appear and start to ravage everyone on the streets. Sybil swims down, deeper and deeper until meeting the face of the monster, a massive eye opens, and looks directly at the invisible Sybil. Turns out, this wasn’t a Aboleth at all, it was instead a Kraken, which is 10 times worse. With a face of “oh shit” he uses a Hail Mary command, “leave” it fails and he decides not to stick around to smell the roses. He turns water walk back on, and it launches Sybil up and up until he’s shot out of the water. He disengages using a cunning action to get the hell out of there. The kraken, now having lost sight on his prey, starts to put all of its effort into destroying everything around it. The tentacles sweep and smash into anything and everything it it’s path. Lightning strikes down on fleeing innocents and Spire guards alike. And if that’s not enough, 3 more tentacles join the fray. Sybil stabilizes Ruith and flies to a roof to catch his breath. He’s far enough away to watch the chaos unfold in front of him. Watching this makes his “I am become death” ptsd kick in and he uses command over and over until it works. Doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results always works out for the guy. Sybil puppeteers the krakens ethereal strands, and forces it to leave down the river.Â
Once that’s done, he looks at the carnage, and goes to grab the gem first. He dives in and swims back where the kraken was. He picks up the 1 inch orange gemstone, and immediately feels a small amount of power course through him. On his way back up, he asks Seraphina for some guidance, “Do what I told you to from the beginning, prevent the prophecy”, he gets in response. He climbs back up, and helps stabilize/revivify everyone he can. He reorients their fate to a more desirable outcome. Notably, he revives the lady who ran the Golden Willow, the general store in town. After that, Sybil just sits around, watching the aftermath.
- Ruith wakes up in a clinic after being thrown against a building while fighting the kraken
- Ruith gets up and heads toward the river, assuming the fight is still going on
- He finds Sybil there healing the injured
- Sybil explains how he drove off the kraken and obtained the gemstone from the bottom of the river
- Sybil notices that Bonk's string is gone for a solid 30 seconds or so and then appears again pointing toward the bottom of the river.
- Sybil heads down and grabs Bonk, shooting out of the river using Water Walk
- Raynor finally makes it to the city
- Everyone talks for like 5 seconds before, leaving the city (Ruith grabs Penelope)
- On their way out of the city, Bonk spots a trap in the road and runs directly into it
- A bunch of goblins jump the party and are eviscerated (Raynor immediately killed 4 of them)
- The party makes it to the town where they had the celebration and half of them got drunk
- All the villagers are rebuilding houses, because they were damaged somehow
- Ruith noticed his ring pulsing faster and finds an astral elf helping to fix a roof
- Ruith tries to convince him to go with them and he says he will tomorrow morning
- Bonk tried to convince him to not go with them
- Ruith hit bonk and bonk acted way more hurt than he actually was, causing the astral elf to have second thoughts about Ruith
- Ruith intimidated him
- Bonk convinced him
- More convincing and arguing
- Sybil uses the power of the gemstone to constantly cast command on the astral elf to get his to follow them (the astral elf's name is Desmond)
- As the party is leaving the city, Sybil uses Divination to ask Seraphina a question.
- As the spider is descending to give Sybil the note with the answer, an owl swoops down and grabs the spider. The owl lands on a nearby tree and eats the spider whole
- Sybil grabs the note that fell, but the writing is slowly evaporating. He quickly writes down everything he can on another piece of paper
- All this time, the owl is just staring at him
- Sybil rolls religion to figure out what the owl's deal is and realizes that Babel himself is watching him through the eyes of the owl
- Sybil flips the owl offÂ
-The party makes their way through the field they had previously burned to the ground
- They arrive at Norwich and make their way through the city, eventually finding themselves at an abandoned building on the eastern side of town
- The building is barely standing
- Bonk runs in the jumps on the nearest table, causing it to collapse immediately after he makes contact
- Sybil and Ruith go around and try to investigate to find the astral elf
- Bonk gets bored and leaves to go to something else
- Bonk wanders around the city with Raynor and tries to find someone that is in need of help
- A kid is being bullied by other kids and Bonk intervenes
- Bonk uses guiding bolt and kills all the bullies
- The kid who was being bullied is terrified and so are all the bystanders
- Bonk then leaves and tries to find more people to "help"
- Meanwhile, Sybil and Ruith take an extremely long time to understand how to get to a secret room (they found a path in the dust leading to a wall. All they needed to do was turn the torch holder on the wall and it took them like 20 minutes or something)
- After turning the torch holder, the wall turns (like a revolving door) and they head down the stairs behind it
- The end up at a door and burst through, finding three men about to play cards
- The men are all very confused, but all decide that Sybil and Ruith need to die
- Sybil and Ruith decimate them along with the twenty-ish others that were further inside by using their new blessings
- Sybil and Ruith release the astral elf kid that was kidnapped (all the other kidnapped kids too)
- We cut to a town north of Norwich. There is an astral elf man that has been waiting for a sign from Lunaris. He has a similar personality to Ruith, but isn't as strong.
- We cut to Bleakburn. There is an astral elf woman that is helping to rebuild the city after the attack. She has similar strength to the last one with a personality similar to the stereotypical super buff guy that doesn't really take anything seriously and isn't too smart.
- We cut to a town southeast of Bleakburn. The astral elf man doesn't want to leave and would rather stay in the town with the other townsfolk
- The townsfolk offer them some food while they are talking to the astral elf
- Everyone makes a saving throw because the food was poisoned. However, Sybil uses his Inevitable blessing to have Ruith auto-succeed [excellent save by Sybil]. Ruith talks to the astral elf and finds out that he no longer follows the ways of Lunaris. In response, Ruith destroys the entire village using his Heaven's Rain blessing. Sybil wakes up and asks Ruith what happens, but he doesn't answer and suggests they get moving (I think). [Great roleplay from Josh and Carlos]
